Default Auto-newbie Question

I know it’s probably a dumb question but will a 3rd Gen slide fit a 2nd Gen frame without alteration? I’m thinking of maybe a blued 9mm slide on my stainless 639.

I know, I know, these speculations are starting to get slightly out of hand, but think how much I’m learning! I like the Gen 3 slide with the front sight dovetail and of course that snap together ambi safety.

As always, TIA!
Froggie

2nd and 3rd gen slides are almost always interchangeable.
