Default J-frame springs pre- and post- magnum?

Are J frame springs the same for the original frame vs the J-Magnum frame? i.e. is the standard hammer spring the same for both a 60-7 (hammer nose) and a 60-10 (frame-mounted firing pin)? Rebound spring too?

I got a 60-7 with a pretty light trigger pull. Had the sidecover off and the rebound slide looked smaller than I expected, it doesn't look like the springs I have (Wolff) would fit.

Firing pin spring looks like it will fit but I thought I'd ask BEFORE disassembly.

The J frame mainsprings and rebound springs have generally remained the same over the years. Mainspring: part number 07104, and the rebound spring part number 03105. (Blue and nickel mainsprings are part number 05749)

There is a model 60 mainspring in my parts book with the note "NY", as number 07795. I'm not sure if that spring is still in use. Knowing New York, it's probably a heavier rated spring, although I've never laid eyes on one.

There are variables in the Performance Center J frames, which often (but not always) use an 8 pound Wolff mainspring. The factory spring is 8.5 pounds, according to Wolff. Also, you can easily recognize the Wolff springs because they are not flat ground on each end.

Thank you, appreciate the info!

I was just reading about the NY-1 Model 60’s having some kinda ignition problem with the bobbed hammers, and the heavy spring that was the fix. That’s probably your NY spring.

It was an interesting thread.

My 60-7 has a pretty heavy DA.
