Default Pre-27 Cylinder Stop Spring

In cleaning up my new to me pre-27, I dropped the cylinder stop spring. I used a new one I had from Brownells.

The gun locks up after a few shots when firing. I am wondering if the cylinder stop spring has something to do with it.

Are the cylinder stop springs different in the later 3 screw revolvers?

Are the cylinder stop springs different from K frame to N frame?

Thanks!

The K,L, and N cylinder stop springs are the same. If the trigger is locking up, the spring could be causing the problem. If the spring is in a bind in the cavity or against the frame, the stop may not work correctly. You might try re-installing the spring to make sure the stop is free to move all four directions, up, down on the trigger pull phase, and forward and back on the trigger return or reset phase.

(Remember not to cycle the action under mainspring tension with the sideplate off.)

Did you also lose the cylinder stop plunger? If so, you will need both. The cylinder stop spring is longer in the five screw guns. Wolff Gun Springs extra power cylinder stop springs are (or at least were three years ago when I ordered my last pack) the correct length. I have not found that the current standard spring works well with the cylinder stop plunger.

Thank you both for the help!

Fortunately, I did not lose the plunger. I will order the Wolff extra power springs and see if that fixes the problem.

If you haven't ordered the wolf XTRA PWR cyl stop spring I will put one in the mail tomorrow for you N/C. I would offer the plunger but see
you still had it fortunately.
Let me know by tomorrow AM EST. Gotta help the fellow SWCA Buds..
