Looks like 3x56. I've got some extras if you need one. (the old ones)

I am in need of a sight leaf screw with a larger head than S&W used. A rear sight leaf screw was drilled out with a to large bit and opened up hole in the sight leaf so to hold down the sight leaf I need a screw with a cap on it.

If the sight leaf is the part that was drilled into, can you solder in a bushing of the correct OD and then drill it large enough for the sight leaf screw to pass through before it gets threaded into the top strap/frame?

If they drilled through the sight leaf and into the top strap/frame the fix will get more involved.

It depends on the vintage style of the sight:

Pre war sight tang front attachment screw - .074 x 64 = close to a #2 (same pitch but diameter can vary).

Post war Micro click sight tang front screw size = #3 - .096”x 56 - drill size #45 for tapping the hole.

The sight leaf is complete off a gun to be destroyed, I have not cost in it.
The hole to hold the sight leaf to the frame was drilled over sized. Protocall design will craft a new screw for $25.
Will I get more than $25 with the new leaf spring ?
Should I just take the white outline blade off and junk the leaf? The sight leaf is from an early model 686 4 inch.

I presume the new screw would have an extra large cap for the oversize hole. Will the new screw be flush with the sight tang when installed?

I would tig weld the hole and re-drill it to the proper size, and counter drill it properly for the original correct screw to sit flush. Then the factory screw that came off with it will still work,

Rear sight leafs are not hard to find. Depending on what model and barrel length the rest of the sight might be used for, the w/o sight leaf might need to be changed anyway.

I would not junk it, too easy to fix or someone else to salvage and fix it. I don't junk any old/obsolete parts. There are too many people out there these days with the skill to fix them. When I need a part but can't find the correct part at any price, fixing one starts looking pretty good.
