Default Sight enhancer

Does anyone sell tritium paint to touch up old sights that the tritium is about worn off and hard to see? I tried Brownells and just got 20+ pages of sights.

I have never seen tritium paint for sale, don’t think you even could sell tritium paint off the shelves since it’s radioactive and regulated. But you can buy phosphorescent paint, just google phosphorescent paint and you will probably find what you are looking for.

If your sights are Trijicon, they’ll install three new lamps, pay the return postage and provide a new 12-year warranty for $57.

Tritium isn't a paint. There are small vials of radioactive tritium gas in night sights. The energy from the tritium excites a bit of phosphor in the vial to make them glow.

You can get new tritium sights to replace the old ones if available. As was mentioned, Trijicon can re-lamp their sights for a fee, on some models. If your gun is a Beretta 92 with the integral front sight with a tritium insert installed, you're out of luck. My 92 is so equipped, and I cannot have the dead lamp replaced. Nobody does that anymore, not even Trijicon. I chose to paint over the tritium, black rear and fluorescent orange front.

I think replacement is the best option, but paint can work. There is glow in the dark paint for gun sights, but keep in mind they have to be charged with a light source for them to glow.

I think VikingDude nailed it. I guess what I need is phosphorescent paint, just want to touch up some three dot sights on some old pistols.

Silver Gt, I think what you found will do the trick, although in a much greater quantity than I need. Thank You All for the help.

There use to be someone who sold just one small vial of phosphorescent paint just for sights and it worked pretty well. The only problem was that it was only one color. Over the years I have tried all the different kits I could find and with all of them, they dried up long before they were used up, a terrible waste of money. These days I just stick to one color up front and either leave the rear sights plain or a contrasting color, using Testor's Fluorescent model paint. Very small cost and even it will dry out before you can use it up.

Try your local WalMart’s craft section. They sell glow in the dark acrylic paint in various colors. I bought white, green, and orange. Enough paint per 2oz. bottle to do hundreds of sights and is only a couple dollars. Applied it with a toothpick

Thanks for posting this thread. I am considering painting the sights on my Shield. My eyesight is not what it used to be. Pics of painted sights as well as a description of the paint used would be great.

Finally used some paint my wife got at one of those women sewing and craft stores. She brought home "DecoArt Glow in the Dark" and "FolkArt" "2039 Titanium White", which I used on five pistols. I just dipped the point of a tooth pick in the paint and put it on the sights. Very bright and I can see it with my ageing eyes just fine. Probably enough in the 2oz. bottle to do
several hundred pistols.
I see it is the same brand that Acorn posted above. Looks like WalMart is the place to purchase it.
