I had to repair the yoke from a 1920 vintage S&W Model of 1905 4th Change in 32 WCF. The end of the shaft that has the groove for the retaining screw (front side plate screw) had a section that was chewed up and gone. My friend TIG welded a bead to build up the area for me to shape and fit. The end of the shaft was a washer cold soldered on. He managed to TIG the entire assembly back together and I got it shaped and fit, but my question is:
Are they all made that way, a washer cold soldered on or was this gun bubba'd earlier in it's life?
On my example, manufactured in the mid-20's, the button at the end of the yoke stem has been turned down, (lathe) and is a pert of the stem itself. Like the ones on the newer models. Yours has probably been "repaired" at some point.

Thank you so much. I agree with the "repair" LOL. I thought that it was an integral shaft (stud might be a better word) with a groove machined in, but this one sure wasn't!
