Smile Scope Mounting

Had a Savage Model 340 .30/30. Purchased a factory side mount and scope
made for this model.
Had a local gunsmith install mount and scope on the rifle.
Cost: $110.00

Is this a normal charge ?

If he had to drill and tap, sounds like a reasonable price. If he just mounted it by installing the screws, then probably too much.

I'd agree with the above! Did he bore sight it for you?

I see prices to drill and tap rifles range from $10 to $20 a hole in my area. So what you paid is probably not robbery, but more than I'd have been willing to pay.

If he did it without scratching the finish, not messing up the screw heads and doing a professional job that you accept and are happy with ...........

Seems like a fair deal to me.

Beats a second hand job that would bring tears to your eyes.

You might think the price might be high..........
but he has overhead and bills to pay and he also wants the price to be low enough to where he might get more business from you and your friends or word of mouth, for his business !!
