Default I-J frame Extractor Spring

I know this is a "wanted" and may not apply to this area but only gunsmiths would probably have the answer. I am presuming that I frame and J frame extractor (return) springs are the same but every time you think you know for sure you end up being wrong. Every one I look at has been modified or replaced. All the parts sources so far do not have any. My lot of general spring stock does not have the correct dimension to fit one. I sent a message to Wolff as maybe they have made them in the past. That being the case, does anyone know if inn fact they are the same and does anyone have an original unaltered I can buy. Thanks

I'm pretty sure they're interchangeable and I have done so in the past.
What era I frame do you need it for? I have examples of pretty much every model change of I and J frames. I can pull one apart and compare it to a modern J frame spring to make sure.
I know I've swapped K and N pre-and post war ejector and extractor springs with success.

Default I frame Ejector Spring

I have five right now I am working on and none appear original. These are 20s and 30s guns.

The I frame cyl is shorter than a J frame cyl in the same caliber. Therefore the spring is likely longer on a J frame and still available.

I frame 22/32s and 32s have a slightly different extractor rod assembly than the 38 S&W I frame. J frame 38 spl cyl is longer than the other 3 caliber J frames.

Which do you need a spring for, an I or J? What caliber is it?
