I've got a 1977 Model 41 with the short, compact rear sight which I've also seen on M52's. All the parts are there (so far.)
The elevation hinge/pivot at the front of the sight is extremely stiff and hasn't improved with penetrating oil soaking.
Has anyone any experience with removing that pin?

Welcome to the forum.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, and after looking at the schematic, I believe that pin may have a spring clip or "snap ring" on it to secure it in the pin hole. Have you checked each end of the pivot pin to see if there is such a ring?

Yes there's a spring clip.

But why is the stiffness a problem? Are you having a problem adjusting the sight elevation screw? Won't the sight go up and down?

More detail on the nature of the problem please.
