Default Timing problem

Hi All. I looked at a model 27 for sale that is out of time. When cocked slowly it doesn't lock. The strange thing is it barely has a turn line and the ejector rod has very little wear. My questions are what does it roughly cost to have a S&W timed? Does anyone know of a gunsmith in the Cincinnati area who could handle a timing job? Thanks

I would buy it after haggling the slow timing.
Then I would take it home and blow it out
with carb cleaner after pulling the stocks.

I think it has dried crud in the action and
you could just clean it to make it better,
ASSuming the turn line is really faint.

I had 29-2 like that and ordered 3 different hands and a new factory stock one was the fix. I lucked out.

See if it locks up when loaded with spent empty cartridges.

If the price is right, and the slow timing is the only issue, no excessive end shake or other sloppy tolerances, I'd buy it. A good cleaning might solve the issue, otherwise, a new hand will need to fitted.

Check the spur on the rear of the cylinder I noticed onetime one star to be worn when compared to the others. I lube the spur and lever with a tad of moly.

I had a scumbag online dealer in my state sell me a h&r revolver that someone chewed the cylinder lock up slot. It was off. I figured out which way to move the metal and slowly closed it up. I got lucky a few .000” did it. A range rod check is next.
