Beretta M71 .22
I bought one of these recently and it came with a faux suppressor. I got the suppressor removed and want to put a thread protector on it. I was told a 1/2 x 20 nut would fit, but not. I don't know what the thread size is so I can find a protector or nut and file it down to fit on the outside. Anyone know the thread size?

Is 1/2x28 a metric size? Can I purchase a nut in that size at a hardware store?

Well, I stand corrected.
A google search for "M71 thread protector" turned up this: Beretta Model 71 Barrel Thread Protector Kit - $14.95 : EWK Arms
And it looks like it is 1/2x20...

Thank you, Rodan. I will get one ordered tomorrow. I tried a hardware store for the 1/2x20 but either I had the wrong one or whatever, it did not fit. I guess I am just enough computer challenged to not find stuff.

You might be able to get it re threaded to 1/2X28. I just chopped the threads of mine and re-crowned. I never was happy with any thread protector I used. 1/2X20 is how they come.

I ordered the thread protectors last night. I guess I never thought about cutting and recrowning the barrel. That is a great option if I don't like the thread protectors. Thanks for all the information.

I did the exact same project when these first came in and IIRC 1/2"x28tpi fit mine? You couldn't even clean the barrel with the faux suppressor on there.
Better yet take the barrel out of your pistol(put it in your pocket) and go to local Ace and try different nuts to find just what the Israelis have threaded yours with?

S.B., I actually took the suppressor into the store, thinking I could find a bolt to fit into it, then get the corresponding nut to fit. The store did not have the right bolt. My order has been shipped, just waiting for arrival.
