Default Parts compatibility Question

I’m new to owning a revolver which I received from my father just recently. It is a MOD 10-6.

My question is will parts from a S&W 38spl MOD 10-5 fit 38spl MOD 10-6. Everything looks the same to me as far as parts, I just want to make sure before I buy parts from the stripped down MOD 10-5. The guy is asking $40 for the parts and researching on line, I would pay $100 for the same parts.

Thank You in advance for your input.

Frank

Parts is Parts ... some parts will and some parts wont ...
specifically which Parts are you referring to ?

Also remember used parts may not be any better than the parts you have ... new parts are new and have not been subjected to a lifetime of wear . The 10-6 has been used so much it is now unserviceable ...
Do you realy want used worn parts to make repairs/replacement with ... I would use new parts for the best possible repair .

Gary,
Thank you for your feedback and you make sense. There is nothing wrong with my 38spl now. I wasn’t looking for parts, I just so happen to speak with this guy at my local gun store and I told him about acquiring my dads gun and he told me he had parts to one if I was interested. After doing my research it seemed like a good deal for spare parts. Which I been told by others I probably will never need spare parts and just to worry about repairs when it is needed. Just didn’t want to pass on a good deal.

Thank You again for your input

Frank

Default changes

10-5 change was the front sight was narrowed on the pencil bbl guns in 1962. 10-6 change was the elimination of the trigger guard screw on the heavy bbl in '62. In 67 the serial numbers started with a D prefix, '69 deleted the diamond grips. AS you can see no change in major parts. Some fitting may be required as you replace parts.
