I've bought a M&P 22 compact and I love the gun. I'm teaching my youngest daughter how to shoot and that gun is perfect for her. Small enough, easy to manipulate and she absolutely is getting bitten by the shooting bug. I couldn't be happier except for the sight.
The 22 compact has a rear site adjustable for windage. I've put maybe 500 rounds through it and lost the dot insert in the rear sight twice now. The first time I contacted S&W and they were great. Sent me a new insert and spring right away but the thing popped out again.
I got new sights for the gun and contacted a gun smith in the area to install them. The first guy wouldn't give me a cost up front. They do gunsmithing as a side gig and wouldn't give me a price. Number two had a great rating on Yelp but they couldn't have been a bigger disaster. They quoted me a price, changed the price, claimed the cost was going to be the original price when I got to their shop, then accused me of trying to take advantage of them when I told them I wanted the price quoted. Disaster.
My question is: can you recommend a decent gunsmith in the Northern Virginia Area? I'm in Burke, VA, and willing to travel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
