Has anyone put a non-bobbed hammer on one of these S&W pistols? I am trying to get some idea of how much trouble and expense it would be to do this as I really like the option of shooting the first round single action.

I did it on a 6904, which is basically the same. It is not hard. You will need to take the grip off. Mine is one piece and you will need a punch to push out the pin. After that you have to push out the pin that is the shaft the hammer rotates on. Go to brownells.com or e-gunparts.com and look at the diagram first. The hard part was finding a hammer, without paying the full price.
