Seems like it's been forever since I've posted and I apologize. I run random pic threads on other forums and it seems it's the easiest to keep up with rather than a bunch of individual threads.
Since it's been a bit I figured I may reintroduce myself and the shop. My name is Dustin Housel and I started HS-Custom, LLC early 2017? I think. Anyways the majority of the work is 1911's until a year and a half ago maybe when I finally made time to get into some revolvers. Majority of the build are RB conversions, barrel chops and a usable set of sights. We checker back straps and I try to highlight machine work ie lathe cut crowns, forcing cones, cylinder face truing (if needed), barrel set backs and so on.
Anyways enough about the shop and let's get to some pics! I love in-progress pics as much as the glamor shots so if you enjoy one over the other just let me know.
Okay last thing. The books are currently closed until February most likely. Trying to empty the safe by Christmas then spend some time on R&D. I usually just update the other forums when I open them up but feel free to drop an email and maybe I have time to squeeze it in. Thanks!
First up started as a 10-8 4" SB converted for carry.

Next up is a security six that was in bad bad shape. Thankfully we were able to save it!

This one was a beast. Caspian frame and slide base. Some of the highlights was a slide chop and coned compensator install, square trigger guard via cut and weld piece in, gold line front sight, machine checkering etc etc. These are pics before it went home for bluing.

681 we swapped a performance barrel into. Stabbed barrel, shroud, polished flats and sights.

Probably the last post for the evening. I'll try and get more up soon.

Very nice work! I especially like the rear sight treatment on the revolvers!

I’ll say! The checkered back straps on the S&W’s really looks good. Something else to put on a list of cool stuff.

Have a great customer that loves one off everything. This is his 3rd from me. Had an extra 10-8 laying around so we thought why not a 5", RB with a full lug. Found a 586 barrel on ebay last year for $125 surprisingly. Here's the start of the conversion. Had just enough threads left over to pick up on the lathe to deepen. Also decided since we're going for Uber accurate I'd go ahead and cut a Taylor throat. This still needs the shroud modified a bit due to the offset of the L frame bore to ejector. I'll be adding a crane ball lock as well. Maybe two for fun. 20220129_113020.jpg20220129_122753.jpg20220129_124335.jpg20220129_134628.jpg20220129_125412.jpg

Please post some pics of the 10-8 with the 586 barrel when it’s completed. That should be a beauty.

Thank you!! Well I had planned on opening the books back up around April or May but unfortunately it's looking like July.

Getting a little closer. Had to adjust the opening where the ejector rod sits due to the K to L frame difference. Got the front end down. Lots and lots left. Thinking about adding a rib on top from front to back for the sight to sit on. 20220205_120032.jpg20220205_125410.jpg20220205_120049.jpg

Nope... No rib. Look bad. Fixed sight like the above round butts. Much nicer, cleaner.

Roger that! I had thought a little more since that post you're correct! Plus it'd add a chunk of weight that it doesn't need! Lol
