What to Clean Residual Oil / CLP film from Finish
Asking this for all makes not just S&W. What would be a good cleaner to wipe down a revolver / pistol finish to remove any old residual oil film, CLP, etc. prior to applying Ren Wax with damaging factory bluing, nickel or parkerized finish.
Mineral spirits or Acetone? Any other products.
Thanks

I was advised to use naphtha prior to touching up before spot blueing years ago.
Did that before using RenWax for the first time recently.
The pros will chime in shortly.
Started using RenWax when bedding the stocks for my 460s and casting small parts recently..... but not for kayak making. Too costly for those chores.

Read that Forlini's is closing.
Favorite place for late night dinners with NYC's musicians back in the '70s.
Will order some MC-25 later today and hope it will remove the RenWax after bedding/casting chores are finished.
Thx,
RT
