I don't think that is happening in actual use. After firing a few rounds both single and double, I found crescent shape pieces of lead on the bench. The bullet is getting shaved due to misalignment.

This is very common in older and heavily used revolvers. The cyl ratchet teeth are slightly “upset” from use. But are simple to gently peen back into place and will be good again for years.
The gold plated cure and what the factory would do is replace the hand, which is a lot more work and not really necessary unless you shoot the gun heavily and/or in competition. So it’s a personal choice only you can make.
If you try peening you can still always resort to a new hand.
