Default M19-2 light trigger pull

My NTM (New to Me) 19-2, pristene bluing, tight cylinder gap (like .004), very happy with the timing, no end shake, etc, is light on the trigger pull ( will lift 2.75 lbs, but not 3lbs). I tested the main spring by lifting 4.25 lbs at the first step of the hammer below the hammer nose. I would like more t pull weight 3.5 or so. Q: Are the main spring and the rebound spring related in this operation. If I change rebound spring to heaver will it send balance out of wack. I know of no GS's in N Idaho to ask for help. I read that S&W standard rebound spring should be 18lbs. I have looked up a supplier and found 16 lb available only.
Is this bbl stud normal for a new -2? Or might it have been stretched by some master builder?

The rebound spring is the main one involved in SA pull. The condition of the hammer and trigger SA sears are part of the equation, too. If you can cock the hammer and not have push off, the sears are probably OK. In that case, going to a heavier rebound spring will raise the SA trigger pull. If you want a factory rebound spring, I will send you one for the princely sum of your mailing address.

My 19-3 has a Wolff reduced power main spring and a 13# rebound spring installed. Less than 16# springs are definitely available.

16 pounds is MORE than heavy enough IMHO.

The specification for single action trigger weight in my Smith & Wesson Armorers manual is 2.5 lbs. so you really are within spec.

Is that pic correct? Where's the infamous cut in the lower barrel face to accommodate the yoke?

The new K frames don't have the flat cut on the bottom of the barrel.

True, but isn't OP talking about a 19-2? I must've missed something...

This is the S&W SA trigger standard as of today, January 20th, 2022, according to S&W Customer Service representative "Dave".

It's impossible to say what it will be tomorrow.....

Hello,

The factory standard is 3-5 pounds for single action trigger poundage.

Regards,

You're right - I missed something, too. A 19-2 would have the flat.

Armorer, indeed, all over the map. Here's the page from my Armorers manual.

Thank you for pointing that out. I never noticed. I mic'd the cylinder stud which rotates under the bbl stud at .400". I also mic'd a 10-5 cylinder stud with the bbl flat relief, at .420". Might that explain the difference, and does this indicate some custom assembly technique meant to not weaken the bbl? Upon receiving this piece from some online auction I was immediately impressed by the fresh high luster blue and the tightness of action. But there is a smudge beneath the finish on the side plate suggesting a reblue job. If so it is the nicest refinish I would ever hope to see. After sitting on it for a year, I have decided to use it as a shooter going no stronger than 6.5g Unique and 158g LSWC GC
