Pachmyar Grip ??
Web searches have not turned up an answer and no advertising photos show clearly enough to tell…do Pachmyar Compact J frame grips cover the back strap or it is open? I need some grips for temporary use while the Spegel grips are being checkered. Thought the compacts might work and prefer an open back strap. Thanks.

At one time they also made a version with an open backstrap. Don’t know if they’re still being produced.

You want the Pachmayr Compac Professional
It fits S&W round butt "J" frames, and has an open backstrap......
Compac Professional Grips | Pachmayr Revolver Grips
(Man, Pachmayr grips have gotten expensive).

Their fit & finish has been reported as lacking though & require attention. Mine were no exception, but I like their feel nonetheless & I have them on my 340PD.

Here’s a set.
They are handy as they reduce grip size and thickness for pocket and other concealed carry.
Not that handy if you shoot 357 or other hot loads in your J.
Just the other day, I put a set on my Model 63 Shorty.

Pachmayr Compac Professional grips
The Pachmayr Compac Presentation grips (#03252) are larger, cover the backstrap & so are better suited for extended shooting, IMO.
For carry I have the Compac Proessional grips (#03254), which work fine for me & my long skinny fingers, on my 340PD currently.
