I have a 686 No Dash in mint condition. It has the "M" stamp. How would you know if it would benefit from an over sized hand? The cylinder rotates properly and everything locks up properly. Is there a test that be done to see if it would benefit from one of the newer, over sized hands? Just curious about this. Thanks for replies in advance!

Jeepster,

If your gun works properly as you describe, then there is no need for an oversized hand.
First, if you installed an oversized hand, then you would have to file the ratchets to fit, which takes away metal from the ratchets, and is not necessary. This actually causes more unnecesary wear on your gun, meaning the life of the ratchets is nearer to the end.
i.e. don't put a new hand in your, or any gun for that matter, until it is absolutely neccesary.

Hope this helps
chris
