Got a set of j frame Mustang grips for $5 at the local gun show but one side has a rectangular patch of dried glue of what must have been a sticker. What can I use on these grips to remove the goo and not impact the wood?
I've had success with smearing glue residue with peanut butter and letting it soak for at least 20 minutes. When the peanut oil dissolves the glue, just wipe it off.
charcoal lighter fluid, a slower evaporating naptha would be my bet. I'd try on a q-tip on the back to see how it may or may not interact with the finish.
