I've learned that Nitro 9 isn't good for nickel finishes. What kind of solvent should I use on my nickel 13?

CLP, Rem Oil, or any of the NON-ammoniated cleaning agents is fine.

Just stay away from stuff designed to remove metallic bore fouling. Anything containing ammonia, or stated for "removing copper fouling", or "metal fouling" etc. Specific products include Hoppe's Number 9 nitro solvent, Bore Klean, ect.

Hoppes #9 states that you can use it on nickel, but don't soak nickel in it.I have frequently used it for cleaning a n1ckle gun and then wiped it down with no ill effect.

MPro 7 cleaner is a pretty good gun cleaner that is safe for every finish and metal on earth. Hoppes #9 standard cleaner is probably safe for nickel, it has no ammonia. The Hoppes that is for copper fouling does have ammonia.

I recently was left (due to death) a Model 57-0 in nickel. It was in bad shape due to being left in a gun case without being removed for a period of years. I used a metal cleaner called wenol polish and it came out beautiful. The cleaner that I have I bought years ago at a flea market and the only place I know to get it is off the internet.
