Will a model 29 mountian gun barrel fit a model 28-2?

Yes, it will fit. The threads are identical, but the barrel shank is shorter than the old M28 barrel.

You need a .44 magnum cylinder to match. The barrel shank is too short ro fit the original M28 cylinder if you intend to rechamber it.

Thanks for the info John (I was hopeing you would chime in on this)
I've got a model 29-2 cylinder already ,now I need someone to do the work.
Any suggestions on a gunsmith ?

First choice for pistolsmithing would be someone local to you that is equipped and qualified to do the barrel and cylinder fitting. It is NOT simply a drop-in proposition. That will avoid the shipping charges and theft-in-transit possibility.

Where are you located?
