Default IDPA holster for 625

Well I found a nice 4" 625-8 yesterday and made it mine. Now I need a holster for it so I can shoot IDPA. Curious what other foks are using and like.

Ready Tactical
Holsters
If you are talking Kydex, Talon Tactical and Ready Tactical are very popular.

For Kydex, comp-tac, blade tec and KY-TAC lead the pack.
A few use FOBUS.
The safariland composite is also very popular.

Don't want another Fobus. Bought one for my j-frame and would nearly yank my pants up over my head trying to get the dang thing out! Lol!
I know if was me, but I could never get the right angle on the thing to my the draw so I bought a BLACKHAWK Sepra for it and never looked back. Love to have one for my 625 but they don't over one.

IDPA has specific rules regarding holsters, and moonclip holders. You would not want a retention holster. There are just a few revolver holster providers (kydex). Most of the sites have pretty good representations of what they offer. Know your belt width. Good luck!

Gonna have to review the rules on moonclip holsters. Have checked out all the holsters mentioned and now just have to decide on which I want.

As others have noted, Comp-Tac, and Blade-Tech are the big names in IDPA revolver. I'm partial to Blade-Tech products, but must admit to never having owned a Comp-Tac holster

Milt Sparks (Tony) made me a PMK a few years ago for a 5" (before IDPA changed the rules) that is great. Still works good with the 625 that now wears a 3" BBl.

I have both Comp-Tac, as well as Blade-Tech belt holsters(Kydex material) for IDPA and the 625. The Comp-Tac is a better product.

When ordering, be sure to spec your belt size and that you will be using the holster for IDPA. Comp-Tac will take care of you.

My N frame rides in a Kramer on the belt holster when I use it in IDPA. Works great for me and meets all IDPA rules for holsters.Check their website (kramerleather.com) and see what you think.
Might work well for you also.

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up ordering one from CPWS that is a Ready-Tactical made by Chris Stewart. Also ordered a pair of their moon clip holders as well. Lots of local guys use his stuff I found out and it seems to work great. I'll know in a couple of weeks since it's backordered. LOL!

I was so looking forward to trying them out yesterday but had family matters to attend to. Maybe one afternoon this week I can at least get to the range.

I would first recommend a Ky Tac - if you can wait weeks or months for delivery. Otherwise, order a Comp Tac and get it within a week.

Both are excellent, I have used both in IDPA

Ready Tactical is my favorite, followed closely by Comp Tac.
