Default Stock Service Pistol, Police Pistol Combat

I have been toying with buying me a Les Baer (catalogued) PII 5" for stock service pistol.

I have a Colt 5" that has a Kart Barrel and Heinie fixed rear and a regular dovetailed undercut front sight. I use this gun for LEO matches in South Texas.

it the past, this gun would not meet the requirements for NRA Stock Service Pistol but if I am reading the rules correctly, my Colt now does.

My Colt does have the front strap stippled but I dont read that in the prohibited section.

If I am wrong here....let me know so I can save 2g for now. thanks in advance

It looks like your Colt is good for the Stock Auto match. Do most of your practice at the 15 and 25 yard lines and you'll do good.

That gun as described would have passed ever since they changed the barrel length rule. The only thing I would do is take along a set of pachmayr wrap around grips in case you need to cover up the stippling as colt never had a stippled gun, unless it was an option in the early days.
Im not trying to be picky but Ive seen them DQ a gun for a non factory option many times. Take the gun have it checked before the match ,if a ref says ok, go to them during check in,if not, cover, with the wraparounds and your fine as they are approved.Beats getting another gun.Just gives you peace of mind, it stinks to shoot under protest or have it out with the refs right before you compete.Goog luck, bob

thanks Calreb for the info.

I will try and grab a Pearce front strap and grind the finger grooves flat and use them under my 10-8 grips when questionable!!!!!

A 5" barreled 1911 is good for the 7.5" sight radius, even with a Bo-Mar style adjustable rear sight.
