Burris Fastfire sight, anybody use one?
I would like to get a red dot sight for my bullseye 1911, the Burris Fastfire III seems to fit the bill, reasonable price; compact design can be mount on the slide, just wonder has anybody on this board use one? Also what size dot would be best for bullseye shooting? Is there any other similar sight within the price range I should consider?
Thanks in advance.

I have the Fastfire III mounted on a Ruger 22 pistol. I like it. I like the III over the II due to being able to change the battery without removing the site from the gun. The dot is sharp and clear. I have a Bushnell also, which was much cheaper and it shows.

Another vote for the Fastfire III, it's well made and compact. I have a 3 MOA mounted on a Ruger Deerfield .44 Mag carbine and it is handling the recoil so far.
I plan to buy another one and make a project out of making a mounting base for it to fit in the slide cutout for the adjustable rear sight on a 4506/106 3rd Gen pistol.
I think it is the the best buy for a red dot reflex style sight compared to the Trijicon RMR or Leupold DeltaPoint.
The NRA DVD on Bullseye shooting basics recommends a 3 MOA dot.

I don't know if one of these will work for you, but....
Optic Mounts : Welcome to Speed Shooter Specialties
might have one that fits your rear sight mount.

Thanks for the tip.... I'll have to give them a call, they don't have any pics up for the 952-2 dovetail mount, which may or may not work. I suspect the sight on those guns are going to be a bomar style found on the PC made pistols.
I've done business before with SSS, I bought a pair of the grips for the 945 and liked them a lot.

I'm going to buy a FastFireIII for my M&P22. The way I intend to mount it is with the M&P9/40 mount from SSS. It will be a touch to big but nothing a little gentle filing and sanding of the mount can't fix. Its been done before. I wish you luck.

I have the Fastfire III on a 3/4" riser on my M&P15 5.56.
It is very small, and works very well, if it can handle the shock of the rifle cartridge going off, it should do just fine on a 1911.
Size wise it should be perfect!
congrats.

I have an older fastfire 2 on my M-41 I had to jury rig my own mount, but it works well and I like it a lot. One problem is when I offer the gun to a shooter unfamiliar with it, they seem to have a hard time finding the dot and get frustrated.
Now a days with the shortage of .22`s maybe that`s a good thing.

I agree on finding the dot... I'll work on that.. not as easy as my Aimpoint on my AR's..

Scenario 1: G34 with stock 'target' factory sights; Texas Star @ 50'; time: 43 seconds;
Scenario 2: G34 with Fastfire 2; one year later after a little practice; Texas star @ 50'; time 7 seconds.
Still not in the money but considerably improved.
I like the configuration, although it's still tough to adapt to the glock grip angle after decades with the 1911.
Good sight choice IMHO.

Have installed a Fastfire on the deer hunting 657. Seems to be up to the task so far, but using the old scope rail seems less than optimum. Would like to streamline the installation a bit.
Never mind the Krylon dark brown paint- it comes off easily enough!

Good looking rig Jay... I like it. I'm sure there is a more streamlined rail out there...

I have a Burris Fastfire 3 mounted on my double rifle in 50-70. Clay pigeons sitting in the sand are dusted every time. Why a red dot? I have trouble seeing iron sights.

Does anyone make a base mount for a K Frame, L Frame, or N Frame specifically? I have the various Weaver type mount bases but that puts them up very high. I am wanting to mount as close to the bore as possible. I see the 1911, etc bases that are only about 1/8" thick, but don't find any listed for Revolvers.

I have a Fast Fire II mounted on an AK to co-witness with the iron sights. I have had no problems or complaints of any kind. Seems to hold up just fine, especially given that it is mounted above the gas tube on an aluminum cover.

I ordered the Allchin mount. This is quality, and it mounts the sight the lowest I have seen to the bore.
