Default 8 Sept ICORE Match in Missouri

The Big Piney Sportsman's Club is a Brand New ICORE Club, and the only one currently in Missouri. This was our first invitational Monthly Match. The turnout was a little low, but it will take some time to get the word out that we have a place to play with your revolvers.

We had a very good day shooting Revolvers Sunday. We started out at 9 AM with a light shower, just enough to cause us to bag the D1 Silhouette targets for an hour, but probably not enough rain to have hurt anything. We had one new non-Club Member shooter, Bob Briggs from Memphis, Tennessee. Bob made the 250 mile trip just to shoot an ICORE match with us. Bob did get to shoot 3 Qualifier Stages, One in each sanctioned ICORE Division, something you would probably not have enough time to do at a big match. His handle is “Tennessee Bad Boy” and it fits, he is Bad to the Bone with a revolver. Bob was a very interesting fellow to talk with. This was confirmed by comments from other shooters after the match. Everyone enjoyed talking with Bob about revolver shooting. He also helped us smooth out a few wrinkles in how we were scoring the match. I hope we get to see more of the Tennessee Bad Boy.

The ICORE Classifier Stage was CS-012 Close Quarter Drill. This Stage has 6 D1 targets, each target gets 3 rounds in any order. This is a real test of your reloading speed.

Shooting the Second Stage with the Mail Box Simulator, I originally thought that using the Mail Box for a rest for the longer shots would help. Trying to take a rest slowed your target engagement down way too much.

The Cubical Confusion Stage required you to carry a briefcase in your weak hand while engaging the 3 Bad Guys in the First Office. This was different than just shooting with one hand. This stage required you to engage the targets quickly, and accurately, as well as getting with the program on your reloads.

The last stage we ended up setting up a little differently than described originally. We set the Dual Swinger up in front of all the steel. You had to engage the 2 Pepper Poppers, 2 Shorty Tombstones, and 4 Tall Boy Tombstones when both D1’s on the Dual Swinger were out of the road. You also had to get a couple rounds in the Shoot D1 when the No Shoot D1 was out of the road. Trying to keep track of the D1’s while getting on the Steel was a real challenge. This was one of those Stages you would like to practice on for a couple hours before shooting for score.

29.55 Second Run, 2 A Zone Hits on the D1 Swinger, and all the Steel on the ground
Happy Happy Happy as the Duck Guy would say.
