does anyone know of a company that makes thin plates/shims or similar to widen 1911 grips (plus longer grip screws)?
it seems the older I get, the slippery my hands get. when I grip my 1911, support hand feels like its gripping nothing.
I have huge hands and my support hand meaty portion does not touch the gun because my primary hand fingers do give it enough room, and when I do shove my meaty portion of my support hand in the opening, I feel it pushing away my primary hand fingers.
I know there used to be a some thin panels placed under grips to add a little width….but I can seem to find them or know what they are called for a search.
my STI TargetMaster already has a longer grip frame and I use Larry Davidson Chubs (which are a tad fatter than a normal grip).
I don't want to invest in his fatest grip in the area of expense to see if there is such a grip shim to try and fit my hand better.
On my standard 1911s, its even worse as the grip frame is not as long around as the STI frame.
when I say longer around, I am referring to the steel on the front strap. the STI has a more squarish round front strap where the standard is more rounded.
just looking for shims at this time. thanks for looking
