Default 230gn Load Data w/ clays

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had chrono results for a 230gn Berry RN w/ clays powder? Im new to the 625 revolver so just looking for some load data to get me some good clearance on the 165 power factor. I have a 4" barrel.

Thanks,

I've never used Clays with the 230, book says you'll need 3.8-4.0grs. I have used 5.2grs Universal for 735fps in 5" 1911 and you need 720fps to make major. It looks like you're pretty much at the max using Clays to keep you at major.

I really like the Universal low end load for my 625....although I've never chronoed it all other perimeters have been most pleasing.

Not exactly what you are asking for, but...

In my 4 inch 625-8, 4.0 grains of Clays makes 777 FPS average under a 228 grain cast lead RN. That's a nice cushion at 177 PF.

Using a 4" model 625. 3.9 grains of Clays under an Extreme 230 gr RN yields 735 fps or a 169 power factor. I currently load 4.0 grains of Clay's because 169 is too close to take a chance at a major match. Unfortunately, I don't have any chrono data yet. I would think the Berry's would be very close to the Extreme bullets performance

This won't be exactly what you are looking for, but I have done some chrono work with Hodgdon Clays.

Hodgdon's website starting load for Clays, is 3.7 grs with 230 gr Hornady FMJ, 5" barrel, 670 fps. If you are using 230 gr. lead, starting load is 3.5 grs. 716 fps. OAL 1.20"

I loaded 3.7 Grs with 230 gr Rainier, 5 inch barrel and got an average of 675 fps. Power factor approx. 155. I increased the OAL to 1.23". I was trying to develop an ICORE load using 230 bullets.

I need a PF of 170 for revolver in IPSC/USPSA in Canada. I use 4.6 of TITEGROUP (not Clays),230 gr Rainier, 1.21 OAL and get a power factor of approx.173.
