Need to know who won 1965 national center-fire championship
I can't find who won.
Colonel Gillard H. Clarke Memorial Trophy.
I can find info up to 1964, and 1970 to 1972, but not 1965.
Are there any 1960s Bullseye competitors/fans/historians here?

Did he use a 52 or a 1911(in .38 mid-range) to win that year?
I wish I could find more info about him and the match.
Would love to know what happened to the 52 he won.
Since I don't know your age, I'll go ahead and ask.
Did you shoot bullseye back then?
Did you know him?
Did you compete against him?
Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Homie, thanks for the information you have provided. It is greatly appreciated.
I'm going to have to letter my 52-1.
If it is the pistol he won, I don't know how that affects the value.

When I lived in Sarasota fl many years ago, I would shoot at the Manatee range on the weekends. A few times I watched the experts shoot in the bullseye matches. The best shoot I have ever seen was a retired Military Sargent Gene Pitts. He was on the Military 2600 team. The military would supply him with all the custom pistols and ammo that he needed. I new I could not compete against this so I never tried.

1965 Camp Perry
Gents, I was there. First went to Camp Perry in 1962 as a beginner.....for the courses they offered. In 1962-1965 I shot the pistol matches, .22,.38 and .45 with the Maryland State Team made up of Border Patrol , Coast Guard and Civilians (me).
Bill Blankenship was my hero to look up to.
Anyway, I have a complete October, 1965 American Rifleman that gives the full breakdown of Camp Perry 1965.
I will mail it to whomever, first says they want it, from this thread. Send me a PM with their address.
