Default ICORE at Green Valley 1 November 2015

The Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club located near Columbia Missouri is having an Introductory ICORE Revolver Match on Sunday 1 November 2015.

As most of you know Green Valley is where the Bianchi Cup Match is held every year.

I would like to see them get into ICORE in a big way myself.

Why?? Facilities They have lots of Great Pistol Bays. They have Movers, and Plate Racks, ete, etc.

On the web site the time is listed as Updated Registration 9:00 - 9:45 Match Starts at 10:00.

Range #1 Lower Mover
Range #2 Plate Range
Range #3 Barricade Range
Range #4 Practical Range

At this time Big Piney is the only ICORE Range in Missouri. We do not have enough pistol bays to hold a big match like the Midwest Regional. Green Valley does.
Dust your revolver off, and come on out and make this Introductory Match a Huge Success.

Patricia my POC tells me that they are just using those 4 Bays.
They will have 2 ICORE Classifier Stages, and either 2 or 3 additional Action Stages along the lines of USPSA.

No Stages will exceed 24 rounds.

They are thinking about a Rimfire Division and SNUB Division. Still in the thinking Stages.

They are setting up a Face Book Page. Green Valley ICORE.

If you shoot a revolver, and are within a reasonable driving distance plan on showing up, and making this Introductory Match a success.

I think atleast 4 of our Big Piney ICORE Shooters will go to this match. It will be nice to just show up and shoot without running the match. I think I may enjoy this.

Right now we are planning five stages, two of them being classifiers.

Looks like 3 of us are car pooling from the Big Piney Sportsman's Club. We have another maby who will drive himself. Jolly was planning on stopping on his way back from Wisconsin after watching the grandkid play ball. They did too well and went on to a Saturday game (Today) and he will not be able to get back in time.

I have my 6" GP100 all cleaned and oiled and 17 Speed loaders pre loaded.
I am planning on taking my 3" 66 for SNUB just incase we can shoot more than one time. So far I have found 7 Jet Loaders for it. Now I need to locate all of my K Frame Comp III's.

I went through all of my safety glasses, and packed the better ones. I will pitch the scratched ones, and ones with paint over spray from painting steel, like I have been needing to do for a while.

I have orders for 6 Speed Loader Carriers that I will deliver to the match. I have several L, K, and N frame carriers made up, and one lone J/Sp101 carrier that I will take with me incase anyone needs a Speed Loader Carrier.

This will be different. We have so many activities at Big Piney, that I never have time to shoot anywhere else. What a change not spending a day before the match setting up the Stages.
"Show Up And Shoot", what a nice concept.
This will be the first handgun match in 30 years that I will be able to do that.

Hope to see some of you tomorrow at Green Valley.

Bob

It was a fun day! Nice weather, lots of revolvers, etc. What could be better! Got to meet BobR1, picked up some of his speedloader carriers.

What a Day. We had 39 Shooters, in Three Squads.

Stage 1 Furthest Box you engaged 3 Silhouettes with 2 rounds each. Strong Hand Only being the best option. Next Box forward 3 Silhouette Targets with 2 rounds each Best Option Weak Hand Only. The closest Box was a Mover Stage best shot with Both Hands. I had never shot a Mover before. NEAT The target came into view after passing 3 No Shoots, and you had maby 4 seconds to get on it and shoot 6 shots. I would like to have burned up several boxs of shells playing with the mover. You had to shoot from one boc Weak Hand, one box Strong Hand, and one box with both hands.

Next Stage we engaged a Plate Rack, Moved to the Center Box where we engaged a Texas Star, then to the last Box for another Plate rack. SIX Plates, Texas Star, and SIX Plates.

Next Stage was a Qualifier Stage with 6 targets partially blocked by cover 1 Shot Each Free Style, and 1 shot each Strong Hand.

The 4th Stage could have been ran several ways. You had 9 Silhouettes all in groups of 3, and 3 Pepper Poppers, with 2 of the Pepper Poppers concealing a Chicken Silhouette behind it. My strategy was to start at the Left end and shoot 3 Silhouettes, Reload engage the 3 Poppers, and 2 Chickens, reload, move Right again and engage 3 Silhouettes as they came into view, Reload and move Right for the last 3 Silhouettes.

Stage 5 was on an upper Range. Five Silhouettes Staggered. You started in Box A engaged each with 2 rounds each (10) Rounds, mandatory reload while moving to Box B, and again engaged all 5 Silhouettes with 2 rounds each (10) Rounds.

What a Day. This was a lot of fun. We had shooters from St Louis, and Kansas City, Three of us were from Big Piney the other ICORE Range in Missouri in the South Central part of the State. Past that I am not sure where everyone came from. Everyone seemed to have a Great Time. We had IDPA Shooters, USPSA Shooters, We had Open Guns that looked like Bianchi Cup Revolvers.
I expect to see most of them back again in the Spring when Green Valley starts shooting 2016 ICORE Matchs. Patricia told me they should start shooting again in April or May. I guess the schedule is not finalized yet. Myself and another 38 shooters are looking forward to shooting ICORE again at Green Valley in 2016.
