Default April Field Pistol IHMSA Match

I don't know about the rest of you blokes, but my scores Saturday were wretched! Had a good time, though, until I got home. Achy and feeling hot & cold in short order. Couldn't get to sleep for some time, but made up for it Sunday.

Happy to see Sw282's folk visit. Hope they had a good time of it.

75Vette shot a 4" 629 "Bordello" style, among other entries. Was hitting quite low by the Rams. I think it's doable, but a good 75 yard zero might be required. Easier to hold under than over as the sights can completely obscure the target!

Maybe we can get some more S&W shooters recruited. Lisa took a brief look through the High Rise 629's scope, however, I'm not sure it would be the best thing for her introduction to Field Pistol. Too much potential for a scope cut to the eyebrow for one! It's bonked me in the face a few times, so....
(A drilled and tapped .32 mag 16-4 would be fun to try!)

Thinking it may be time to get back to .22s since ammo is available in quantity again. Did a Standing entry with a High Standard Pistol as I had old sight come ups. But after a good start on Chicken bank #1 it was all downhill. Sights just weren't clear and hold was not steady. Turkeys were laughing! Only one Ram.

Need to try the Hi Standard against the S&W 41 no-dash at some point. But freestyle in Production Class. Especially if the "wobbles" persist!

Or a 17 in Revolver. Could use the 617 8 3/8", just have to either record or forsake it's dedicated squirrel hunting sight setting.

J, you don't think that maybe it was April Fool's day had anything to do with the "wobbles" do ya? My first card was only 1 point behind yours!! I had the 629 PowerPort which I'm getting pretty accustomed to but the FastFire didn't want to light up for some reason. (worked fine when I got home) Luckily I brought the new Master Hunter for back up and it shot pretty well. At least to start with. The scores dwindled as the day went on and my wobbles set in! I should've practiced more with the 4"er but snatched it out of the safe on a whim just to see what would happen. I did decent on the chickens and pigs but struggled on turkeys and rams. I'll take your advice and set my sights on the 75 yd mark next go round and see if I can improve my Bordello score. That dash 4 is a fun one to shoot.
I think everyone enjoyed sw282s "aromatic" lube blend using scented candle wax for his boolit lube! It made the range smell like a French brothel!! It was good to meet his daughter and SIL.
I was able to snap a few shots. Being under the shade isn't the greatest for phone pics but here they are.

'Twas a real TREAT having my daughter and son-in-law with me Saturday.

Said they enjoyed themselves and were definitely WELL Fed..

Son-in-law shot a 629 Magnum Hunter on his relay.. Daughter used a Single shot in 22 Hornet..

Special thanks to our Match Co Director for lending gun along EXPERT instruction to her.

Thanks for the photos!

Had camera and two phones, but didn't take the first picture.

Our auto pistol shooters did surprisingly well. But one was "Superman" whose only Kryptonite seems to be that .45 Blackhawk.

As for the wobbles, no idea. Your scores are creeping upwards, mine have stagnated for a while. Except when they slip. Not sure what to attack to get to the next level. Load, revolver, operator? Thinking operator is the main culprit! Wobbly, flinchy, trigger jerking, abused old operator!

I found another pic to add. Here's sw282 spotting for his son in law shooting his Magnum Hunter. First time shooting steel critters.
