Have you cleaned out the back side of the extractor hook? It's a part of the cleaning process that gets overlooked often. I use a dental pick to get the carbon out. And yes, Apex is the only option to a factory part, but to be fair, I have a number of both options and haven't had problems with the factory extractor. I got the Apex because I was shooting a lot of rounds in matches (~50K per year). I've since changed platforms so this observation is over a year old.

I have as much as possible. I am unable to remove the retaining pin. matter of fact I have taken it to 3 Gunsmiths locally and they all said they cant get it to budge.
I opened a ticket with SW and will see if they will kindly remove the pin for me.

I do as much as I can. I just cant remove the pin!

I'm going to guess that the coil pin is coming apart, and is contributing to your extraction problem. The pin will come out with enough force, but it comes out in pieces. The trick is to use a smaller diameter punch so there is room for the "pieces" to be ejected. I ended up buying a bag of replacement coil pins from McMaster Carr and replacing the pin every time I took it out. (I do the same on the block pins for the same reason). When the pin starts to disintegrate, the pressure on the extractor gets less. I'll send you a few spare coil pins if you want, I had to buy them in bags of 25 so I have a bunch lying around. If you want, let me know in a PM (with your mailing address) and I'll drop a couple in an envelope.

I sent you the pins anyway. I guess I have no fear, I just get a bigger hammer. (BTW, I use Sound Gear hearing protection as well, they work great and I shoot USPSA Open division)

At the Thursday night comp, had a guy that swore he could remove it! HE DID! Thankfully, so it looks like ill be back in operation in the next week or so. This stupid pin has been like the sword Excalibur LOL. Someone finally go it out. I hesitate in sending to SW because they are getting ready for their two week closure.

Cool, now you can use the pins I sent. (and they are hi strength stainless instead of the mild steel OE pins)

I want to thank you so much for sending those. I received them and one is in place. I am up and running again.

Your knowledge and kindness are appreciated.

Yes the old one was removed by the guy at the cactus league and I was able to R&R.
