CCW gun?
Time for a poll.
What is your CCW handgun? Do you compete with it?
Factory loads, or homemade?

For just general go out and staying in a reasonably safe area, a Ruger LCR .38 pocket carried.
For going into the cites or areas with the potential for things to be much more "interesting" I carry a XDs .45 IWBH with spare magazines!
NY has a rule of no more than 10 shot magazines!

I do not limit myself to a single firearm to be carried for personal defense.
What I am doing that day and how I am dressed alters what I carry.
75%+ of the time I carry a Smith and Wesson J-frame. It might be steel, aluminium alloy or Scandium allow depending on my clothing. It would most likely be chambered in 356TSW or 357 Magnum
Other times I carry a larger semi auto. It could be a 10MM, 357SIG or a 45ACP

Pocket around town 642, out on the open space to the east 640-1, to the west 60-15.
Depends on where I'm going.
Occasionally a 3914 or 6906.

Glock 23. Otherwise my BUG; S&W 638 (2.5"bbl) or the 60 with magnums. I have to follow those annoying guidelines called 'Dept. Policy'.

CCW HANDGUN
Everyday now is a S&W 640 pro series, outside & inside the waistband. Going to the Indy 1500 gun show on Nov. 3rd to pick up my Stoner Stormer vertical shoulder holster so I can start carrying my Colt Govt. model when I want a change. Factory ammo in both. Competition: not now but maybe in the future.

When I am out of state and able to exercise my permit, I currently have a 36-6, 439, and a Government Model 45 in my rotation. The rotation will be changing to a Mauser HSc, a 686+ 3" and or a Commander in either 9mm or 45ACP, depending on the circumstances.

what I am doing and where dictates what gun I will be carrying. Most days it is a Springfield XDS in .45 ACP in a OSWB holster. Spare mag and a model 60 on my ankle with an extra speedloader. A Glock 23 also sees some carry time as well. I am fond of revolvers and I manage to get my model 19 Combat Magnum 21/2 inch, and my model 24 factory 3 inch in the rotation. Lastly I am a big fan of my model 325 Night Guard in .45 ACP , the larger frame revolvers mostly get carried in a shoulder rig when weather is cooler. There are times when I carry a 9mm also. I only own two a Smith model 39 and a Browning T-Series. Both are also carried in custom shoulder holsters.

Kimber Solo Carry 9. Usually in an ankle holster. If off the clock, could be an OWB on right hip. If I don't sell this NIB G26 soon, I might start with it. Weather clothing permitting.

My normal concealed carry handgun in the winter is either my 2.5" Model 66 or my 2.5" Model 686+.
Warmer weather has me wearing a smaller, lighter handgun - a S&W 6906 or more recently a CZ 2075.
I also carry a Kimber Micro in a pocket holster as a back up.

Ruger Lc9s in a kangaroo carry. This is the smallest gun that I feel I can be effective/accurate. This is also the only one I carry and practice drawing with. I keep it simple.

I carry a snubbie in my front pocket all day, lately a Ruger LCR327, though I also have a S&W 637 PC and Taurus M85 that rotate thru.
When I leave the house, lately I add a 4" M29 in an OWB holster, though I carried it AIWB yesterday and it was surprisingly comfortable. I also have a Ruger GP100 WC, a 4" M10 HB, and a newly acquired 686 PC that I rotate thru the belt holster.

I used to spend considerable time behind the wheel, sometimes in spooky
areas. The Glock 22C .40 Caliber in a Ross horizontal crossdraw driver's
holster (made in S. Africa). Loaded with Federal Hydra-Shoks and an
extra mag full were comforting. The belt is from Milt Sparks.
The knife is a Boker Kalishkanov.
Next proceeding left to right, when I used to wander in the woods I liked
to carry my S&W Model 29 loaded with Federal's 300-Gr. cast flat points.
I would usually carry a couple of extra HKS speed loaders full.
The holster is Spark's 200AW and the belt is by Haugen.
The knife is a Buck 110.
I feared no evil from 4 legged critters.
Next is Delfatti's shark trim IWB with my S&W 642. This is my normal
everyday carry nowadays. The knife is Kershaw's Junk Yard Dog II.
When I don't wear the 642, it is the LCR shown here in a FIST 1K IWB.
An extra speed strip of Gold Dots. The knife is by Piranha.

My EDC / CCW is a M60-7. I only compete against myself - for improvement and proficiency. Occasionally against a friend to better our skills.
My "competition gun" is usually a Colt Gold Cup NM in .45acp. Sometimes I use my S&W M15 or my M41. Other times I'll compete with a set of Colt SAA Revolvers (SASS style shooting among friends) we don't do the official SASS matches anymore.

Yes I do. At our local range we have a Steel Challenge type match. Which I have used my 9mm Shield a couple times and my Kimber 3" , 45acp a couple times this year.
I think a match is one of the best places to check firearm & equipment reliability.
I usually carry factory ammo, however I use reloads for matches that are loaded to the same POI and power factor as factory.
Also one of the local indoor ranges use to have a CCW match were I used my J frame.
Since I got the Shield it is with me most of the time ,, the J frame is secondary ,, and the Kimber usually hides in the safe ,,

A M&P Shield 9mm in a LH Desantis Pocket-Tuk. My wife carries a M&P Bodyguard 380. Hornady Critical Defense in both. We practice with whatever is semi cheap at the time. No competition except with the grand kids when they come over.

Summer it's the 442:
Or the 3953:
See a trend here?
Wintertime it's the 640:
Or the Colt Lightweight Defender:
Or the 12-3:
Don't use any of these for competition, however.
Other tools for those jobs.

Colt Cobra, a real one made in 1974 IWB and I just compete against myself with it. 85% of the time
I also carry a Shield 9mm and a CZ82 just to keep them in the mix.
