Default Ballistic apps for cell phones.

I was perusing the ballisticapp.com website today and decided to look into loading one on my phone. I have used JBM ballistics for years to calculate and them printed out on paper to attach to my rifle for various loads.

I do not have an I Phone.

When I went to the "Play Store" (U.S.Cellular phone) to look up apps, there seems to be a never ending variety of them.

Question I have has anyone tried any, and can you recommend one that you are satisfied with?

Appreciate your help.

have a couple I use. Strelok is one, and the other is the Hornady App. Both are available the play store.

+1 to what Westie1 said. i have Strelok and Hornady, use them every week when shooting various calibers and loads. Anymore, an essential component of my shooting gear.
Using my lab radar I get my muzzle velocity, plug in the numbers while sitting at the bench, get my come ups and proceed to put rounds down range. The apps have been very useful with every load I have used them with.

Yet another "app" that I will never need.

Never saw the need for one. Only sure way to get good results is to load up some different rounds and go test them. The apples that you may need have already been found so all it takes is a tweak here or there.

i remember all the talk, and it probably is still going on, when I was shooting Bullseye. You have to tune the load to your gun. Guess what? I ended up just where everyone else was, 4.0 grains of bullseye with a 200 grain SWC. But I had fun playing with it. Same thing happened for my 223 and M1 loads. Pick a powder, pick a bullet, and tweak it. No need for some program.

Ballistic App - What The Pros Use - PrecisionRifleBlog.com

Pretty good overview of existing ballistic apps. Depends on what feature set you want--GPS-based rangefinding, the ability to "true-up" charts, atmospheric hardware linkups, etc. I don't think there's much that GeoBallistics doesn't do, and it's relatively cheap compared to most rifle gear.

If you just want a rough chart, the most you'd really want is the appropriate G1 or (more likely) G7 drag model data for your particular bullet, which you might be able to get for free.
