What Type Of Grip Are You Using? Rubber? Wood, etc:
Do you shoot Rubber, Big Butt, Wood, Big Butt or standard or some other grip style.
Do you use finger grooves or trim them off?
How well does the gun stay in your hand?
After years of using Hogue Big Butt grips on all of my revolvers I'm finding that my hand is now slipping while pulling the trigger. Just loosing purchase a little but no matter what grip hold I use my hand just doesn't stay put.
Today I tried an old pair of Standard length grips from Hogue with finger grooves and my had stayed perfectly still no matter what?
I think I'm going to change for the next match or two and see if it helps.

I shoot with standard rubber Monogrips. But, I'm not competing and I'm not going for speed. They just feel right in my hand.

I'm still using Mikulek grips on my competition revolvers. Do you use Pro-Grip to keep your hands from slipping over each other?

No, I've never used Pro Grip. Maybe I should order some.
I just ordered a bottle from Shooter's Connection.

On my 629 I’ve gone from stock rubber to Hogue rubber to Hogue G10.....and then finally ordered some Altamont walnut round to square conversion targets. For me, they work best...and aren’t hard on the eyes either.

try these
Hogue fancy hardwood w/o finger grooves, checkered, striped cap
not cheap, but for me the perfect stocks. firm grip of course is the key to accuracy and fast handling

1. I use wood on my S & W revolvers. I generally don't change from the original grips in any handgun.
2. I like the old "service stocks"; "magnas" and "targets".
3. I hate "finger groove" grips. They seem to never fit my fingers. And besides, I dislike the look.
That is my story. And I will stick to it.
Edit. I forgot to give exemples.

Primary carry revolvers are all wearing sambar stag,
........the Js are in a boot grip configuration. K 3" ones are wearing sambar rb magna style with Tyler T grip adapters. K4" wear modified sb factory targets with most of the lower portion of the grip cut off into a rounded configuration.

Ahrend's Retro Combat in dark red Cocobolo .
Had Kim make special matching sets for model 58 (41 magnum ) and model 64 (38 special) .
Retro Combats have the finger grooves , model 58 is my avatar .
So glad I had them made when I did , beautiful and fit like a glove .

For IDPA I use a 625-8PC equipped with Hogue Tamers (the grips developed for the X-frame hyper-magnums).
Foe USPSA and ICORE I use a 929 equipped with KSD checkered wood grips that are essentially Nills knock-offs.
Adios,
Pizza Bob

I feel like I've tried every grip on the market and I always come back to the Hogue fingerless rubber grip. It allows me to get a good grip on the gun but doesn't get in the way of reloading handling / etc.

Same here...I love the look of wood grips, but shooting 357, the gun moves around too much for me. All my carry guns sport Hogues!

Before USPSA changed revolver rules, I shot a JM 625 with Hogue Monogrips finger groove grips, they just fit my hand. (Don't shoot revolver in USPSA anymore.)
For wood grips I bought a set of Nill grips in a local pawn shop that feel fantastic and are very easy to look at as well.
For $10.00 I couldn't walk away from them!!

I have Hogue Monogrips for all my Smiths. I started with the originals then went to Pachmeyers, and then tried the Hogues. For me, they are perfect. After shooting they get cleaned an reunited with their originals whether they be magnas or targets.

KURUSU , in post #8 said exactly the way I think about grips for my revolvers , 38 special to 45 Colt including 357 , 41 and 44 magnums . I really like the S&W PC Magna's for my 4" 357 , 41 and 44 magnums . They are not easy to find but worth the wait . On 6.5" magnums , then I go to the S&W target grips . I absolutely despise rubber / plastic grips and grips with finger grooves . Regards Paul

I really appreciate the look and feel of figured wood grips, and use them on most of my revolvers. I do, however, use rubbers on my hard kicking, or serious use guns. Not so pretty, but recoil reduction and a good grip under adverse conditions trumps looks every time. My duty / PPC revolvers always wore rubber. Learned that lesson the first time I banged my pretty L frame grips against a patrol car door frame, and chipped them.

Nill Phil Hemphill style with open back on both K frame an N frame. I like the wooden Hogues as well.
A lot of what works best has to do with hand size and finger length. My hand is medium sized.

Another Hogue shooter. Here are their Big Butt grips. They are longer so you can go prone, place the gun on the ground for a steady support.
I have the rubber Hogue grips as well. I may buy another set a little larger to fit my hand better.

I like stag on all of my non historical firearms. Checkered walnut on most of the rest with a few with checkered buffalo horn.

Right now I am putting honest miles on a 80's 25-2- I took the coke bottle original grips off it and put some no bark Elk horn magna's on it I think they are Grashorn's? Got them used off of another gun forum. The guy that had them was not sure. I like the fact that its EZ to get to the strain screw with magna's.
Surprised at how nice they are- pretty & dense very little pith mottled white ivory or even pearl looking.
Was not to impressed with Elk horn for grips before I have a set of 1911 Elks that are pithy and light feeling.
May talk to Grashorns about getting a set made up for a 21-4 round to square conversion if possible.

I'm using a Barami Clip Grip on my S&W638. The Barami is very slick so I covered it with a piece of bicycle inner tube. It works well.

I'm a "traditionalist" I like the way the origanal wood magnas and targets look and feel.
Back in the 70's I never did like seeing shackeld up Camaro's, Mustangs or GTO with 50's on the back eather!!
