Holster for a 5 625?
Im looking for a holster for my 5 625 that I can also use for my 4 625. I want it for range work, and maybe competition. I really dislike the IPSC open front, which I dont think will work for both, anyway.
Blade Tech no longer makes a 5 N frame holster. Others make one for 4, but not 5.
Any suggestions?

I do not know if they still do, but Kramer made a nice holster for the 625.
The one I had was a 5.
Best,
Gary

I’ve never owned a Tagua holster, but they make several models for 5” N frames.

While I do not consider it a Competition holster, I have always carried my 5" 625s in a Bianchi 5BHL
A 4" would also carry very securely in that same holster
I know, I hate that they are now Made in Mexico
It is still a excellent holster

I had a local kydex holster wizard make one for me with my own gun and some ideas I got from other holsters I had seen.
Used to use it in USPSA before all of the rules changes on revolvers.
Hogue makes a great kydex revolver holster...or at least used to. The Bladetech holsters are well thought out and very nicely crafted as well.

Kramer, Kirkpatrick, Barranti, Sparks and several others make 'em. Just dig around online til you see something you like but the names I just listed off the top of my head, as Red Nichols is now retired, are your best bet for a top flight, lifelong use scabbard.

Are you looking for one holster that would carry the 5 and the 4, (individually not at the same time) or one model and purchase two holsters?

If competition is a possibility, then you want Kydex. Speed Beez makes a Kydex holster for a 5" N-frame, however, the front is open, but not completely - there is a "bridge" that goes over the front sight...
SPEED BEEZ(R) Outside the Waist Band Smith & Wesson 627 5 Inch Tactical Revolver Holster (Except V-Comp, TRR8) USPSA Legal Speed Rig Speed BeezSpeed Beez
I believe that the sight cover is probably long enough that it could also be used for your 4" gun. This style holster would be OK for USPSA or ICORE but not for IDPA.
Comp Tac makes their International holster for 5" N-frames - which I'm sure could also be used for 4" guns. The front is cut down, but not below the cylinder. No picture or dimensions so you would have to check to see if it is IDPA legal (front edge of holster cannot be more than 1" from the rear of the cylinder) - again, OK for USPSA or ICORE.
International - Neutral Colors
Good luck.
Adios,
Pizza Bob

I’m hoping to find one holster that works for both.

While a leather holster might work, it would have to be the type that fits the frame. Like a belt slide or open toed pancake.
While I am not familiar with Kydex, that seems to be the better option.

I found a small company, Master Tac, that made me a nice kydex rig. Bill made me a holster for a 5” N-frame and a bunch of single and double moon clip holders. I like the rig and I thought the price was reasonable.
