Had the first of our monthly Steel Challenge Matches today and I got to give my 617 a try out. Couldn't stay long because the weather just killed me. I shot 4 of the 8 stages and was exhausted.
Temp was only 100 but the humidity was 80 percent. Not use to that here in the desert.
After reaming the chambers last week I had easy extraction for each of the 4 stages. The trigger on my new 4 inch feels much better than my 6 inch gun and it has a very smooth stroke even though it's between 8 and 9 pounds DA.
I'm waiting for the new RevUPAction Hammer before I do anything else to the gun.
Thanks to DS-10 I had enough speed loaders ready for the match as well as two Pelican cases that hold 140 rounds each. Love sticking it to the guys with the autos having to reload at every stage.
Next weekend I'll give it another attempt. We had 10 people on our squad and you have to walk almost 300 yards to get to stage 4. My range bag with all the equipment weighs about 12 pounds and my cooler another 20. I just ordered a new, lighter cooler from Amazon.
I use a walker to carry everything. Better than a few years ago where I had to use a wheelchair, but I did have to shoot my last stage sitting down. I took a half hour break at that point before trying to drive home.
