Assorted grip pics & Update
Update 6-25-2018
A long overdue update follows. I am no longer taking new orders, I am continuing to work on existing orders and intend at some point to get caught up.
The volume of emails, two different work emails plus phone and forum PMs have left me with the choice to either make grips, or type. Neglecting emails is never a good thing and I realize that, but there are simply not enough available hours to do it all. From the start volume has never been a goal, only doing the best work I’m capable of, the result of this is low output, no way around it. My apologies to those that I’ve inadvertently missed or that feel slighted. This has never been my intent.
If you want to check on an existing but yet un-filled order please contact me at kbgrips@hotmail.com Please no other questions to this email.
I tried the above once before but made my problem worse by adding to an already bulging load of emails on the gmail account, hopefully separating things will make it less time consuming.
Many emails I receive are asking can I make grips for just about any make or model you can imagine. Gun frames that I make grips for are listed on my website but I’ve listed them below also.
Smith & Wesson revolvers, K, N pre and post war, J fame also, no I.
Colt I, frame such as Officers Model Match, and Python.
S&W models 39 and 52.
Colt 1911 pattern.
I do not make grips for any other manufactures guns currently.
I truly enjoy working with wood and feel at times very lucky to be able to do so, it is however, not a way to get rich quick !
Hopefully this helps explain my current situation, Thanks very much.

First off, I would like to thank Lee for the opportunity to be the first to use the new vendor area. Since Lee took over the forum it has always been a work in progress, constantly improving and very user friendly. Assisted along the way with his cast of characters (moderators) it continues to be a well run fun place to visit. Thanks again Lee!

I'll start with a pic of my trusty HD, this is the gun I use for the majority of my pre-war grip making. It started it's working life with the Franklin, Ohio police department on March 6, 1936. The stocks are Black walnut and made in the correct pattern for the era.

Your grips are some of the best around. I know you sell Roper style grips, but do you also sell them with thumbrests? If you do, I will like to see some pictures of them. Thanks.

Keith...I just read the article about you in GUNS magazine that was written by Steven Hughes. It was very well done and will probably result in a much higher volume of orders.
I received the "Doc44" stocks (photo below) and the refinished S&W stocks yesterday. As usual, a job very well done!!!
Your work is equal to, or superior to that of Mr. Gagne.

Now that the story is out, I'll post images of my own KB Roper (K-38) and Combat grips (M-13). Thanks for the kind words, Doc!
Am looking for a new N-frame set everyday in the mailbox!

Gorgeous grips and a great article. Thanks for posting the link Lee! I have a couple minty mid 70's Smiths, a 36 and a 27, that are going to need a nice matching set of custom grips one of these days. Keith is obviously the go-to guy for the work.

The "SDH" wouldn't stand for Steven Dodd Hughes" by any chance?. Seeing is how he's from Montana and a certain SDH does some really great work on rifles. Frank

Well Boys,
All I can say is...Keith Brown sur-nuf did right by me!
Keith,
I sport this pair right often...As a matter of fact, carrying 'em today.
Thanks for a great job on the custom J frame 'Cokes' and of course the matching N frames.
They're surely a pair to draw too.
Su Amigo,
Dave

Thanks to all for the kind comments, and also for posting your pictures of my grips. It's always a pleasure to see them on guns other than my own. A really big thanks to SDH, (Steven Dodd Hughes) for suggesting and then writing the article. Steve has given me much advice and encouragement, it's very much appreciated. For those interested in fine guns check out this site Home Page It is the creation of SDH and is very much worth visiting on a regular basis.
I'll post a few pics of a set of N-frame RB magnas. I made these for a customer who knew exactly what he wanted in the way of features, and along with my suggestions on wood and checkering this is what we came up with. They now reside in Norway.

I've posted this pic several times here on the forum, but I never get tired of looking at these myself. Someone took the Cokes off my 4 screw pre-29 sometime in its life. I got a good deal on it, but could not live with the speedloader cut '80's target stocks that it was wearing. Keith did this old revolver right with this set of Cokes!

Before I buy a set of Hogues, do you make any grips for the 10xx range of S&W pistols?

A320, the only autos I make grips for are the S&W models 39/ 52 and the standard pattern 1911. The Hogues are nice grips, never a bad choice.
A pic of my model 52.

Here we go with some thumbrests that I just got from Keith.
He modeled them on a set of Ropers that are mounted on an old K-22 Outdoorsmans revolver.
Superb checkering, finish and grain.

I won the last set of Ropers that Lee had on eBay. They're in need of some professional TLC. Are you willing to work on them?

Just a quick note to those who might have been on my website in the last few days and not been able to access the galleries. I am in the process of making a new site and parts or all of the current site my disappear in the next week or so, sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, I am certainly still in business and still slow, some things never change!

Have you seen the old Bianchi Lightning rubber grips that shrouded the hammer for round butt K-frames? (I know - a stupid question.) Think those could be done in a nice highly figured wood? I think grips like that would be very "showy" as well as practical if they would hold up.

Keith,
The grips you made for me are magnificent.....
As we discussed, my dad was an Artisan Woodworker, and made some beautiful grips, but yours are the equal to the rifle stocks made by my dad's friend, Paul Jeager (whom I believe taught dad how to checker).

Elm creek, I'm sure that style could be done and it would offer a large area to show off the figure in the wood.
tj, I remember the conversation we had about woodworking and your dad, I remember that piece of wood also, it was a particularly striking piece of lumber. I always enjoy your photos, thanks for posting this one. And thanks also for comparing my work to that of Paul Jeager, after sticking myself yesterday with carving gouge I needed a boost.
Thanks much, Keith

In my fine tradition in being slow at most everything I finally have a new site up and running (I Hope) it is simply kbgrips.com I believe it contains all that is actually needed although my intention is to add many more photos and grip info in the next few months. Sorry for the long delay in getting it done.

Nlmadog, the 1911 grips I could do. The 559 I'm not sure, is it basically flat on back or do they wrap around.

Visit Keith's website- kbgrips.com
It looks like they will start at $335 if I read the price list right.
$195 Base + $140 for checkering = $335.
Wood upgrades are $20 and $30.

As of January 1, 2014 I will no longer quote a delivery date on new orders, I am continually falling further behind and it no longer serves any practical purpose and only seems to anger customers along the way. And to be very clear about payment, I do not want ANY deposit or payment until an order is actually underway. It recently came to my attention that at least some folks think I take payment and then sit on it for a year or more, nothing could be further from the truth, this is damaging to me as a business and personally as a man, I carry my fathers name, both first and last and have always conducted myself with that in mind. Those few customers waiting patiently for grips that have been paid for will have them within next next two weeks. I will also not be taking any NEW J frame orders for at least the next year, orders for J frames already in hand will be filled. Not meant to sound so dark at the start of the New Year but it seemed the appropriate time to make the changes. I do very much enjoy grip making and hope these changes will help with that.
Hope your Holidays were all that you hoped for, and Best Wishes for a Happy New Year !
