New Procedures for Historical letters?
When the SWHF takes over the issuance of letters, (even though Roy and Don will be doing it from MASS I assume), I imagine the requests will be sent to ?? KS or MA ?? I realize this may be a bit early in the process and procedures may not be all set up yet. Just let us all know when established.
Thanks for all the efforts.

The revised request form will have the new address in Massachusetts. We be accepting new history letter requests on June 15 after Roy returns from the S&WCA meeting in Baton Rouge.

So it's after June 15th and unless I missed a new post somewhere else nothing has popped up yet. I noticed that the S&W factory website tells people to check back on July 1st.
Not to appear impatient, but I do have a gun I'm rather keen to get lettered, so does anyone have updated information?
Thanks!

You can access the new request form on the forum and mail it in. Roy will respond to letter requests sent to the S&WHF (Warren, MA) as soon as he completes the final requests sent to S&W in the last few weeks. The "plan" is for S&W to post the new (S&WHF) form on their website on July 1.

Thanks for the response, Bill. Where on the forum do I find the link to the new form?

Click on Downloads near the top of the page and then click Factory Letter Request Form under the heading Most Popular Files.

The form doesn't work for me. When it opens in Microsoft Word it is 124 pages (probably one line per page) of gibberish like this:
PK
!æÏ
Á‹
[1][Content_Types].xml ¢ [1]( [1]´”OO*@Åï&~‡f¯¦]ð`*¡xP<ª‰Ïëv
*²3*|{§5@AôÒ¤ÝÎû½yíÌàúÝVÉ"ïr*Ïz"§}aÜ$Ïã*ôR$Hʪò
Open Office will not open the doc either, says it's a corrupt file.
Anyone else having this problem?

I haven't even been able to find the link that Bill referenced, so I downloaded the form from the S&WCA website with no issues:

This may be an issue pertaining to the versatility of your computer. I have Windows 10, but I just noticed that my desktop opens it as a "MS Word 97 - 2003" doc, which I think is a rather old version.
I have the thing saved, so if you want to try, PM me your e-mail, and I'll send you the Word doc as an attachment. I'm not enough of a computer geek to know whether that would work around whatever is causing your issue.
Alternatively, here's a snip of the form.

Absalom, thanks for the picture of the form. Aside from the change to S&WHF at the top and the payment and address information at the bottom it appears identical to the old form. I've just edited one of my old files to match.
FWIW I am using Office 2003 and Windows 7 so there shouldn't be compatibility issues with the new form. Plus Open Office should have been able to open it. *shrug* Whatever the problem is, I now have a form that I can use thanks to your help.

For S&WCA members, we are going to publish the form in the fall Journal.

Was very happy and surprised to receive my 2 letters today from Mr. Jinks. I mailed them 6/16(the requests had been sitting on my desk for awhile, awaiting a check), check was deposited 6/21, and I received them today, 7/9.
My pre-27 5" 5-screw was shipped on 12/30/1953 to Jurek Bros. (wonder who would have bought it from them?)
My 31-1 was shipped in 1972 to Watkins-Cottrell in Richmond, VA.

FYI
Jurek Brothers was a large dealer in Greenfield Mass up until the 1980's. I bought a number guns and gun related items for them. They are still in business, but only deal with law enforcement people.

Bill,
Only SWCA members see the Downloads button because it contains SWCA documents.
The other forum members do not see that button.
The link to the form located in the SWCA documents will not work for non-SWCA members.
So, years ago, I put a link to the Letter Request in all of the Notable Thread Indexes in some gun forums.
Look Here:
Sticky: Notable Thread Index 1896-61
Sticky: Notable Thread Index 1961-80
Sticky: Notable Thread Index 1980-Present
Sticky: Notable Thread Index Semi-Autos
and you will see:
Factory Letter Request Form
