Default Less than 4-week Letter Turnaround

Sent off a check on 4-16 for my first factory letter request ever and it arrived yesterday 5-12. From all the complaints of factory letter delays I've read in years past I was pleasantly surprised and I commend those at the SWHF for being on the ball and on top of things.

No earth shattering revelations about my gun however. Pertaining to it specifically, it reads,

"We have researched your Smith & Wesson .357 Model 27-2, Pinned & Recessed, caliber.357 Magnum revolver in company records which indicate that your handgun, with serial number N811xx shipped from our factory on September 13, 1972, and delivered to International Distributors Inc., Miami, FL. The records indicate that this revolver was shipped with a 3.5 inch barrel equipped with a ramp front sight, blue finish, and checkered walnut grips. This shipment contained 5 units of this model in the above configuration."

Unfortunately the later guns do not have as much information as some of the older ones! Still nice to have things confirmed!! Thanks for sending for a letter!

Didn't really think of my 45 year old gun as a "later" gun, but I guess it is.

Unless it is something very unusual, most S&W firearms were shipped to a distributor or sporting goods store. The exception being the Registered Magnums which were custom ordered and often shipped to an individual. The documentation on most of them far exceeds that of other models.
