Default Is this a OLD M66 employee award ??

Anyone every seen one of these? Could be a pen holder as a years of service gift?

Based on the age cracks in the wood and the "felt" I'm guessing it is a older item,,,,,,,,,,there is a "groove" around the base so some form of trim appears to be missing. The "bevel" of the barrel is not on the correct angle to display it symmetrically on/to the wooden base.

I don't know my wheel guns so I took some close up pics of the sight hoping it might help date this item.

(then click on the picture to see it in a larger format)

Thanks for the input!

bobt, There are a number of combinations of cylinder & barrels made up in desk sets, as shown in the early 1980s S&W accessories catalogs. They came in black, gold and chrome finish, mounted on wood bases. Some with calendars, some with note pads, etc. Your barrel and wood base is part of one of the calendar desk set items. Someone has cut off the calendar portion that was to the left of the barrel. Note the left side of your wood base does not have the rounded chamfer of the right side. Original cost of the complete calendar and pen holder ( product No. 15620000) was $49.95 in chrome finish with Goncalo Alves wood base. Ed.

When they closed the wood room, employees bought the desk sets for $1.00 in the box. I have over 100 barrels that were unused stock, already cut and ready to be put on a piece of wood. My wife came up with the idea if tacking them up on the trim in my gunroom. Now I hang coffee cups, hats and handcuffs on them.

Wow you guys are a wealth of knowledge!

Thanks for the info and "Club Gun Fan" gave me an idea, if I decide to keep it, I'll turn it into a "single" coat rack,,,,,,,,,,unless I can find enough to make a 6 hook rack.

Thanks again!

Back in the 70s we used to make those pieces out of cylinders and barrels that were rejected because of the finish. The guys in the stock department used to cut the scrap stock wood the size we needed. Call it recycling, we didn't waste anything.

Yours is one that they sold in the catalog. The one the OP posted was made by the employees for personal use. A while back I got over 200 cut barrels from a former employee. I used them in my room to hang cups, hats and handcuffs on the wall. I just bought over 100 cylinders and eight pieces of pine stock that he was going to make desk sets with.
I bought this round pencil holder base and found the writting on the bottom. It was for Victor Wesson.
