Default S&W Stainless boot knife sheath

Hi to all. I am new here and I am in persuit of an old S&W stainless folding bootknife of the 70s/80s I once owned and found an example for sale that has a brown sheath without the upper wad to retain the knife and a rivet/snap in this upper area instead. Was this knife ever equiped with this sheath, or is this seller substituting some other in it's place? Thanks, Mike.

Just to be clear, is the double edge knife in this pic the one your talking about? if so, the only sheath I've ever seen on it has been black and they have the S&W logo on the button. Hope this helps.

Default That's it!

Thanks combat. It is the top one. It is interesting to see the other version at the right beneath it. The sheath he has is exactly like your black one beneath the top blade but in brown. The sheath that came with mine was black but had no button at top. A stitched in wad that kept the knife in the sheath was at top. Thanks again for your photo and input, it has been very helpful. Also, let me know if you ever decide to part with the upper blade. Mike

No C.S.S.. The other version (double edged with bleeder grooves) and there was no flap. Just a "wad" that would obstruct the folded knife from exiting the sheath unless you bushed the "wad" back. Thanks for responding, Mike.

I had one for a while, and it was brown. Not a real dark brown.
It was an open top design, and the button at the top held it in, so that you'd have to manipulate the knife a little to get it out. TACC1

Thanks TACC1. That confirms the authenticity of the one available to me now. It is exactly like what you are showing. There must have been some rolling changes during production and the sheath had changed atleast two times. Thanks for confirmation, Mike.
