Very nice. I found on e in a box of misc. at an auction last spring. not NIB as yours, but with the leather sheath and in pretty good condition. Does anyone know how nany variations of these were produced?

Nice knife. Those older knives show an "out of the box" way of thinking and design you dont see anymore in tactical knives.

I just picked one up (no box) in as new condition at a flea market. I spotted the leather sheath inside a case with costume jewlery and asked to see it the lady said she won't take less than $20 and I agreed with her.

H Richard
They made 3 versions of the swing blade knife. They made the 6042 like mod 34 sold, the 6041 like yours and a variation of the 6041 that was a Viet Nam War memorial. The 6042 sells for the most money, but the Viet Nam war variation of the 6041 is by far the hardest for a collector to find.

hello y'all,
just found a 6042 (not in the original packaging) but the swing blade itself in really great condition and the original black leather case. 2$ at a yard sale in my mom's 55+ gate community. my deputy bro down south of me is saying 'no way...!'
i'm an art historian and archaeologist by training, not a knife collector, but i know the SW logo and the design itself caught me eye. it's beautiful and unique. i'm thinking of gifting it to a young guy i know, 18yo, who leaves for paris island and the USMC in two weeks. i see bouncing around that the series of these SS 'funny folders/swing blades' were created to commemorate the dedication of the vietman war memorial 'the wall' in WDC in 1982. is that true, or just a coincidence/urban myth?
i'd be grateful to any of you all out there more in the know where i could package this to michael with a little history of the object.
thanks,
damrey (khmer for 'elephant')

Default my grandfather

I'm soooo happy, I finally found more out about this knife, but I know something, that is really cool, from my dad, I learned that his dad was behind design, and production of 100 prototypes, including the one that was passed down to my dad, then to my moms dad, and then to me along with the remaining knifes of his collection so this is really cool, I was not aware that they had been put into production, unlucky, with the prototype that I own, my grandpa on my moms side tried to sharpen it, and succeeded, but his way of sharpening does not include a secondary bevel so the entire blade has scratches everywhere and while sure, it sharp now, its not a knife that I think should ever have been modified in that manner. It is great to have it, and its also cool to know that my grandfather was behind it and as far as i know a bunch of other designs I'll post a picture of all of the knifes and the cases they were kept in. Please reply with any questions, info, or anything
