Default Smith & Wesson Card

I bought this card at Brimfield over 10 years ago. It is 3 x5 and in very good condition with a nice Pistol charm attached with pearl handles. Does anybody know the value of this? Thanks Jerry

I don't think, because you don't se a lot of these, you are going to get a good price EST. I would put it on E-Bay, or G-Broker, start at $50 and hope for the best.

On something like that you never know. Some people just look for those old signs and cards.

I would think that because it has that interesting little charm attached, you could maybe fetch a couple hundred dollars for it. I think if the card had been made without the charm it would be in the $30-50 dollar range, but the fact that the charm is still attached makes that a real find! Now that is just my opinion, but I have wandered garage sales and antique stores for many years so I have a little bit of experience in guessing the value of interesting items.

It is a recent reproduction. They are still available anywhere. They sell repro metal signs at the Shooting Sport Center in Springfield.

I've seen both the cards and the little novelty revolvers. The cards predate the revolvers by 50+ yrs., so some one in the past has attached the two together. The cards came in several sizes. Yours is the small one, larger ones were up to 10" x 16" and had a folding piece on the pack to stand them up on a counter in a gun store. I've seen the novelty revolvers for sale at gun shows for $20 - $35 asking. The cards are a lot scarcer, but not high dollar items. probably worth $25- $50 to a collector of S&W paper, if in good condition. Ed.

It's original not a repro and I am almost sure this gun came on the card.

The card dates to the turn of the last century. The novelty revolvers were commonly available in the 1930-40-50 era, as seen in many ads in the gun magazines of the period. ed.

You may be right on this one, sure looks like the pistol came on the card examining it with a loop. Neat Pistol. Pearlike handles. Thanks for your info. Jerry

Stockbridge St. was the old plant in downtown Springfield. S&W moved from there after WW2 to the current location in the early 1950s. Ed.

I was in involved in advertising with a company a few years ago. They placed ads in different publications. Each ad was given a different street address for each magazine. The ad for Navy Times had an address of 16 Bridges Ave, Defense Suppliers Monthly used 66 Bridges Ave., as the address. We could see what replys we got from people from the address they wrote to. That was an easy way of finding out which magazine gave us the most bang for our buck. I suspect Smith & Wesson used the same thing. I have several old ads that have different address's.
