Default S&W pocket knife I.D.

Hello, all. I am looking to identify a nickel or stainless pocket knife approximately 4 inches overall length. My Dad had one that I believe he got in the late 70's/early 80's. He lost it a long time ago, and I have been trying to find out what model it might be. From what I can remember, it was something like an executive pocket knife, and had the S&W brand on at least one side. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum. You may have gotten yourself a real "Needle in the Haystack" project! Do you remember how many blades the knife had? Is your overall length estimate of 4 inches for an open or closed knife? If it was for a closed knife, then it may have been the "Maverick," models 6061 or 6062, which had a wood inlay in part of the handle. There were only 5 stainless pocket knife models in the 70s, Models 6041, 6042 6064, 6063 and 6045. They were all single blade knives, except 6065 which had a screwdriver blade and the knife blade. 6041 and 6042 were swing blade knives. The other three opened in the conventional way. They were about 3 in. long , closed. Good luck, Ed.

I believe I have a knife that perhaps might fit your description. Mine is a folding knife with a single blade lock back. The blade is 2" and extended it is 5 1/2" overall. There is the S&W logo on one side of the handle portion, and on top of the logo is crown with USA engraved. On the bottom of the logo is rocker box with "Stainless " also engraved.

Today, (12-09) there is one on E-Bay that is described as the S&W Executive Stainless Lock Back 2" SWEX . It has Smith & Wesson engraved on the blade, and a gold S&W emblem on the handle.

This is not what I have, but, the overall design is very similar. The question I am trying to answer is where did I get it? I just don't have a clue.............Sorry

Did it look like this? If so, good luck, I haven't seen one since 1982 when I bought this one.

MJK-MOD-547, Your S&W knife is called the "Shooter's Knife" by S&W. They show up on eBay occasionally. Value NIB is about $50 and use ones run about $25. Ed.
