Was wondering if S&W ammo is collectible? Perhaps the older stuff? Just curious...thanks

There are collectors for almost everything, including S&W ammo. Full boxes of early S&W ammo. can bring thousands of dollars in auctions and private sales. I know of a box of 40 test rounds of.40S&W caliber that brought $1,000 by itself. I would say that there isn't any S&W made ammo ( or ammo. made at S&W order by others) that isn't in the collectable category. Ed

I shot a box of S&W 125gr jhp 357mag ammo i had but i saved many boxes of the early remington peters 12ga with the shells in paper bodies. The orginal ammo is still in them.

Saw a pristine box of S&W .22's from the 1970's at the VEGAS show. Thought it would look nice on my shelf in the loading room.

I figured ten or fifteen dollars MAX. Imagine my surrise when the guy said FIFTY DOLLARS.

Maybe that was the Vegas price?

I can recall the Range garbage can full of those blue/white Fiochi ammo boxes that Smith marketed in the mid 1970's after Department Quals. Wish I had that time machine stuff figured out.

Gee, then the $15.00 I gave for that cellophane wrapped, sealed box of .22.s wasn't all that bad a deal.

For those of us who like to photograph our toys, it's terrific to have a box of period ammo to pose with them.
