Nice find. These came out in 1974 as part of the Blackie Collins designed knives at S&W. I think the Model 6060 folder was probably the highest production amount of the series. The "wood" is called "Wessonwood" a patented synthetic, guaranteed to not chip, crack, peel or stain, for one year! R.W.Lyle designed a similar knife, however it was not adopted by S&W for production. Ed.

Actually, the opposite is true. The 6060 folder was the highest production of the series. To quote The Knives of Smith & Wesson by Clarence E. Rinke 1990...

"Here are the production numbers.
Texas Ranger Bowie – 20,000
Bowie 6010 – 15,000
Outdoorsman 6020 – 13,000
Survival 6030 – 17,500
Collector Series – 3,752 (800 complete)
Skinner 6070 – 15, 500
Fisherman Fillet 6040 – 4,500
Fisherman 6050 – 4,500
Folding Hunter 6060 – 35,000"

FYI.

I have been trying to put together a complete collection of these. The Fisherman knives - 6040, 6050 - are definitely the hardest ones to find.

I have a set of Smith and Wesson Blackie Collins knives. Model # 6010-6070, all still in the boxes. Just wondering about value and where to sell.
