Smile Blacky Collins knife 6060

Hello, I have a smith Wesson 6060 folding knife made in the 70's. I have all the other ones but this is different it has ,they said pearl handles, they are white but they look more like bone or ivory. Has anyone else seen this one before. It came in the orginal box still in plastic with all paper work. Thanks George

The Model 6060 Folding Hunter knife, designed by Blackie Collins in 1972 was not made by Smith & Wesson as the factory was not tooled to produce a folding knife, so the production was contracted out to three knife making companies, Carolina Knife Co., Alcas and Bowen. The standard production Model 6060 had a special pressurized natural wood, called "Wessonwood." Model 6060 could be had with special materials, such as your knife has, and could be ordered from any of the three Knife Cos. Clarence Rinke, in his book "Knives of S&W" estimated that approx. 35 folding hunter models were made by the Carolina Knife Co. with a variety of special handle materials, including ivory and white micarta. These knives were marked "Lyle-S&W" according to R.M.Lyle, knife maker. If your knife is not marked as indicated, it was probably made by Alcas or Bowen. Ed.
