Default Canadian ALL MODEL CIRCULAR

I bought this Canadian ALL MODEL CIRCULAR at the Smith & Wesson Collectors Association Annual in Sturbridge Ma.
It is dated November 1959.
I can't recall ever seeing one marked CANADIAN.

Don:

I see you have been going through someone's dumpster again!

Good find.

And good eye. I had to look twice before I saw the word Canadian up there.

Duh.

Shawn
It's getting cold up in the Great White North. Almost used this to start a fire in a 55 gal barrel. One thing I forgot to mention, did you catch the maple leaf screened very lightly on the cover?

1959 is the only Canadian AMCs that I know of, I do have notes that I don’t recall making about a 1966 Canadian version. Depending of course if you classify this one as a model circular or a catalog.

Don, I got the feeling you read all the posts on catalogs, there may be one or more you missed in the collectables forum last month. Although you don’t need to read it now as you have one, great find, good spotting, well done. You guys don’t realise how good you have it, model circulars and catalogs at gun shows and collector meetings, something I have never seen in Australia. You cannot believe how much I’m looking forward to attending one of these collector meeting and some US gun shows.

Ellwood Epps Sporting Goods in Orilla, Ontario, has been in business since 1934, and they still sell a wide range of firearms, including Smith & Wessons. Like most old time gun stores, they probably have an attic full of these old AMCs and an experienced dumpster diver could make a big score, right Don? Ed.

Ed,
He didn't answer cause he's hitchhiking to Orilla.

Question: As a 1959 circular, wouldn't these guns be model marked rather than named?

The model numbers are on the circular. S&W continued to use the names along with the model numbers in their literature for long after the time they started using model numbers.

Just got back, people don't like hitchhickers with two large black plastic bags. I'll sort thru everything and get back to you.
